Lily is the common English name for plants of the Lilium (genus) or Liliaceae (family).

The term "lily", together with a modifier, is also applied to a large number of other plants, which have flowers that may resemble true lilies to a greater or lesser extent. Most of them are quite unrelated to the true lilies, and they include;

• African lily - Agapanthus africanus.
• Arum lily - Plants of the family Araceae, sometimes only plants of the genus Arum.
• Belladonna lily - Amaryllis.
• Blackberry lily - Belamcanda
• Daylily, or Day lily - Hemerocallis.
• Ginger lily - various plants in the family Zingiberaceae.
• Easter lily - either Zantedeschia aethiopica, or Lilium longiflorum
• Peruvian lily - Alstroemeria.
• Water lily - various aquatic plants.
